Hope you are having a great and musically filled summer! Just wanted to give you a heads up of what to expect the first days and weeks back. Included below are directions for the Remind101 app which I use for some announcements with different groups. Looking forward to a great year with you!!
*All students interested in playing for the home Varsity football/basketball games and earning extra credit performing with the Athletic Pep Band:
Rehearsal 1 is Thursday, Sept., 7, 2017 from 2-4 pm
Performance 1 is Friday, Sept., 8, 2017, call time 5pm game, start 6pm. Game Schedule will follow, rehearsals are typically Tue.s and Thur.s, 2-4pm.
All past and present music students are welcome! Let's go BULLS!!

Extra credit is for band students, all others can earn community volunteer time.
*All Concert and Symphonic Band students will be playing on Monday, Sept., 11. Instruments must be in working condition, no sticky valves or tuning slides on brass, no air leaks or damaged pads/corks on woodwinds, percussion must have drum sticks/mallets and practice pad.
Seating audition/Lesson group placement/All county nomination assessment will happen in September. Please review your knowledge of scales and rhythm with a metronome.
Brass will be heard additionally for range, tone and lip slur technique.
Woodwinds will be heard additionally for finger technique, tonguing and tone.
Percussion will be heard additionally for rudiments in time, balance of stick control, and dynamics.
First performance is Veteran's Day Parade on Saturday, Nov., 11, 2017, Concerts are in December.
All Brass students are welcome to be apart of the Smithtown HS West Brass Ensemble. A full year commitment is necessary. Please let me know in advance, so I can have music ready for you at the rehearsal. Deadline to join is September 26, 2017.
First rehearsal is Tuesday, Sept., 12, 5pm-6:30pm. Concerts and community performances are part of the commitment. Smithtown HS West Haunted Hallways is first performance.
