Symphonic Band Students/ Summer music tour auditions. This Wed.

September 25, 2013

Dear Smithtown Music Student:

Congratulations! Based on your musical achievements, we are offering you the opportunity to participate in our
American Music Abroad Honor Bands, Choirs and Orchestras Tour of Europe for 2014.

For the past thirty-eight years, American Music Abroad has arranged excellent tour experiences for over 33,000 high school age musicians. We have enjoyed great receptions at concerts, broadened horizons and created wonderful memories for our tour participants. Most returning American Music Abroad students feel that the experience is one of the most enriching and educational of their lives.

This year's American Music Abroad Freedom Tour begins July 4 and returns to the United States on July 23.

We will be performing in and visiting France, Belgium, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Our itinerary is carefully planned for exciting educational and cultural experiences. We stay in fine quality hotels throughout Europe. Some of the places that we will visit are Paris, Brugge, Koblenz, the Bavarian region of Germany, Heidelberg, the Tirolean region of Austria, Salzburg, the Alsace region of France, and Lucerne. Our concerts are often arranged by local cultural or musical organizations.

Highlights of the 2014 Freedom Tour include an evening cruise on the Seine in Paris; a guided tour of the Paris Opera House; a trip up the Eiffel Tower in Paris; a guided tour of Brugge; a cruise on the Rhine River; visits to the medieval towns of Heidelberg and Dinkelsbühl; a sobering visit to a concentration camp; participation in a Tyrolean Folk Fest; a guided tour of the musical city of Salzburg; an awesome trip via cable car to a glacier in the Austrian Alps; and a visit to Haut Königsburg Castle in France!

We have scheduled an American Music Abroad information meeting to be held on
Wednesday, October 2nd at 7:00 pm in the Commack High School Chorus Room. Please ask your parents to join you at the meeting.

The School is located at 1 Scholar Lane in Commack, NY.

If you are interested but unable to attend the meeting, please call American Music Abroad at 856-874-1010.
